Monthly Fortune

October 2026Feng Shui Report

A month to bring good work into view, strengthen your foundations and make space for a quieter rhythm.

Fire Horse year · Earth Dog solar month

The rhythm of October

October’s traditional Flying Star picture favors purposeful progress rather than activity for its own sake. Monthly star 9 meets annual star 1 in the Center, a “sum of ten” combination associated with completion, recognition and bringing an effort together. The Southeast pairs annual 9 with monthly 8, placing a second emphasis on building something that can last.

Opportunity is accompanied by a need for discernment. The North receives monthly 5, the West combines annual 3 with monthly 2, and the East receives monthly 7. In practical terms, give good work a clear place to happen, keep sensitive areas calm and protect the resources you already have. A fortunate sector is a place to support preparation, not a promise about what will happen.

Make room for progress
Center and Southeast. Finish, present, plan and consolidate.
Keep a gentler pace
North, West and South. Reduce disruption and protect rest.
Check before committing
East and Southwest. Verify payments, identities and agreements.

This is a general cultural reading of the traditional annual and monthly charts. It does not include your home’s natal Flying Star chart, facing measurement or personal Four Pillars.

The season’s natural rhythm

In this approach, the feng shui month follows the solar terms. Cold Dew marks the transition into the Earth Dog month, while Frost’s Descent brings a quieter seasonal midpoint. Let these changes guide a thoughtful rhythm of preparation, focused work and rest.

Before Cold Dew
Complete what is already in motion. Monthly star 1 remains in the Center before the seasonal transition. The monthly chart repeats the annual arrangement: SE 9, S 5, SW 7, E 8, Center 1, W 3, NE 4, N 6 and NW 2. Finish existing tasks and keep the annual South 5 and Northwest 2 considerations in place.
Cold Dew
Han Lu 寒露. The Earth Dog solar month begins and monthly 9 enters the Center. The main chart and sector readings in this report apply from this change. Review the North and West first, then the spaces you use most.
Frost’s Descent
Shuang Jiang 霜降. This is a seasonal midpoint within the same solar month. It does not move the monthly Flying Stars. Use it as a practical reminder to check comfort, lighting, ventilation and your pace as autumn deepens in the Northern Hemisphere.
Winter Commences
Li Dong 立冬. The next solar month begins. Review the new monthly chart at this transition rather than carrying October’s arrangement forward.

Fire Horse year, Earth Dog month

The traditional year pillar is Bing Wu 丙午, Fire Horse; the Cold Dew month is Wu Xu 戊戌, Earth Dog. Wu is Yang Earth, and Xu is a late-autumn Earth branch with hidden Earth, Metal and Fire. Fire generates Earth in the Five Element cycle, suggesting a useful seasonal image: turn enthusiasm into structure, simplify what has become scattered and give a promising idea a dependable routine.

That image is a shared seasonal theme. It cannot tell you which element is personally favorable without your complete birth chart. Autumn’s cooling symbolism also comes from the Chinese seasonal setting; adapt everyday comfort to the climate where you actually live.

October’s nine-palace chart

The large number is the monthly star; the smaller labeled number is the annual star. Read them as a pair. This diagram follows the traditional arrangement with South at the top and North at the bottom, so East appears on the left. Each palace links to its full reading.

Monthly 9 in the Center · Cold Dew to Winter Commences.

What the numbers traditionally represent

1 · Water
Initiative, communication and future opportunity.
2 · Earth
Rest, health-related caution and care for routine.
3 · Wood
Disagreement, competition and the need for diplomacy.
4 · Wood
Learning, creative work, relationships and affection.
5 · Earth
Disruption and setbacks; traditionally kept quiet.
6 · Metal
Mentors, responsibility, assistance and authority.
7 · Metal
Loss, trust and the safeguarding of resources.
8 · Earth
Accumulated resources and steady foundations.
9 · Fire
Visibility, recognition and present prosperity.

These meanings also depend on the time period. We are in Period 9, when 9 is treated as the current prosperity star. The former Period 8 wealth association of 8 is still discussed, but it should not simply be described as equally strong. The chart is a traditional interpretive system; its numbers are not measured probabilities or personal fortune scores.

Find the sectors in your own space

  1. Start with a floor plan. Mark the approximate center of the enclosed home or unit you are assessing. For an irregular plan, do not assume that the midpoint of its widest rectangle is the correct center.
  2. Establish north. Use a calibrated compass, away from metal furniture, appliances and magnets. Repeat a reading in more than one position. Traditional compass practice uses magnetic directions; avoid mixing those bearings with an uncorrected true-north plan.
  3. Locate the eight directions. Each covers a 45° wedge from the center. The sector headings below give their bearing ranges. The central palace is the core area; its precise extent depends on the method used to lay out the plan.
  4. Prioritize the places you use. Note where the main entrance, bedroom and work area are located. A Northern room is its location within the home; a desk facing North is its orientation. Those are different measurements.
  5. Keep changes modest. Choose a cleaner surface, a quieter routine or better practical maintenance before moving furniture. A full Flying Star assessment also needs the building’s time period, sitting/facing and natal chart.

If you use a nine-grid method instead of radial sectors, use it consistently. The diagram shows the star arrangement, not the exact boundaries of your rooms. Necessary access, essential repairs and safe furniture placement take priority.

A closer reading of all nine sectors

Read the entrance and rooms you regularly occupy first. Each annual and monthly star combination offers a theme to reflect on, followed by practical suggestions for the way you use that space.

Center

Visibility & completion · The central palace

Annual 1Monthly 9

Monthly 9, associated with recognition and the current prosperity of Period 9, meets annual 1, associated with initiative and future opportunity. Their total of ten is traditionally read as a supportive combination for bringing separate efforts together. This makes the Center a useful symbolic focus for completing work, presenting an idea and reconnecting with people who already know your strengths.

Keep the middle of the home open and easy to cross. Use an existing table or nearby sitting area for a short planning session, then choose one project to finish. A clean surface and comfortable ordinary lighting are enough; the Center does not need to become a display of objects.

  • Try this: Finish a proposal, share a portfolio, follow up with a past client or celebrate a completed milestone.
  • Keep in mind: Cluttering a passageway, overloading sockets with decorative lights or confusing visibility with guaranteed success.
Back to the chart

Southeast

Steady growth · 112.5°–157.5°

Annual 9Monthly 8

Annual 9 and monthly 8 bring together the traditional themes of present prosperity and accumulated resources. In Five Element language, the Fire of 9 feeds the Earth of 8. This is one of the more supportive combinations in the October chart, particularly for consolidating income, developing an established venture and giving a practical idea the structure it needs.

If this is already a comfortable, usable part of your home, use it for budgeting, preparation or thoughtful work. Repair an ordinary light, remove unused paperwork and give a healthy plant room to grow. Let the space support a clear task rather than treating a new ornament or fountain as a financial shortcut.

  • Try this: Review a savings plan, improve a proven service, follow up on invoices and prepare a carefully researched negotiation.
  • Keep in mind: Speculation, borrowing beyond your means or installing a water feature without considering the full property chart.
Back to the chart

Northwest

Initiative with balance · 292.5°–337.5°

Annual 2Monthly 1

Monthly 1 is traditionally connected with progress, communication and a fresh start. Annual 2 introduces a more cautious, restorative theme, so this sector is mixed rather than purely auspicious. October’s opportunity here is to make a measured move while keeping your workload sustainable. It is a good metaphor for asking clearly, preparing thoroughly and leaving room to rest.

Use an existing Northwest workspace for a focused conversation or short study session if it is comfortable. Keep it clean, ventilated and free from abandoned tasks. A simple white or metallic object is a traditional Metal expression for annual 2; choose something you already own and keep it stable and unobtrusive.

  • Try this: Prepare an application, ask for feedback, restart a manageable project or arrange a useful introduction.
  • Keep in mind: Working late merely to “activate” the sector, adding strong red decoration or postponing care when you feel unwell.
Back to the chart

Southwest

Support & discernment · 202.5°–247.5°

Annual 7Monthly 6

Monthly 6 is associated with mentors, experienced advice and practical assistance. Annual 7 carries the traditional themes of loss and strained trust. Because both stars belong to Metal, some interpretations also caution against a hard or competitive atmosphere. The most useful reading is to welcome qualified help while checking details and keeping boundaries clear.

Create a calm place for a conversation with an adviser or colleague. Check the locks if a Southwest door is frequently used, keep valuables out of sight and file agreements where you can find them. Soft textiles can make an already austere room feel less severe without requiring a wholesale redesign.

  • Try this: Ask a specialist a specific question, record a shared decision and verify the identity of anyone requesting a payment.
  • Keep in mind: Giving sensitive information to an unverified contact, relying on a verbal promise or displaying sharp decorative objects.
Back to the chart

Northeast

Careful communication · 22.5°–67.5°

Annual 4Monthly 3

The annual 4 relates to learning, relationships and creative thought, while monthly 3 is traditionally linked with argument and competing opinions. Both are Wood stars. Their pairing suggests that ideas may be plentiful but agreement needs patience. In a shared office or family space, the practical emphasis is on clear expectations and a gentler way of discussing differences.

Reduce the small irritations that interrupt concentration: untidy shared surfaces, constant alerts or a seat facing a busy passage. A modest warm-colored accent is a traditional Fire expression used to soften Wood. An existing cushion or artwork can provide that symbolism without candles, heat or additional expense.

  • Try this: Clarify roles in writing, pause before answering a difficult message and give each person uninterrupted time to speak.
  • Keep in mind: Heated debate, retaliatory messages, oversized plants or a new moving-water feature intended to energize this combination.
Back to the chart

South

Creativity, quietly · 157.5°–202.5°

Annual 5Monthly 4

Monthly 4 brings the traditional themes of study, writing, creativity and affection, but annual 5 remains the stronger caution in this sector. The South should therefore not be treated as an unrestricted romance or study activation. The month’s softer star does not erase the annual pattern or the South’s Tai Sui consideration.

If a room here is already in regular use, keep its atmosphere peaceful and routines simple. A calm reading session is different from drilling, loud music or a major rearrangement. Traditional advice favors a quiet Metal expression for annual 5 and avoids adding strong Fire; a small existing metal object can represent that idea.

  • Try this: Write, read or have a considerate conversation without turning the room into a busy project area.
  • Keep in mind: Optional renovation, noisy activation, strong red additions or moving a desk here solely because monthly 4 is present.
Back to the chart

North

Protect your reserves · 337.5°–22.5° across north

Annual 6Monthly 5

The Five Yellow, monthly 5, visits the North above annual 6. In the traditional chart this is a priority for quiet, maintenance and restraint, even though 6 normally carries a helpful theme. The most constructive response is to preserve time and resources, check unfinished practical matters and avoid creating unnecessary disruption.

Keep the area orderly, reduce loud activity and check that a frequently used Northern entrance is safe and easy to pass through. Traditional Metal symbolism is often used for the Earth of 5; use a stable ordinary object rather than a noisy wind chime. Leave urgent repairs and necessary safety work to appropriate professionals.

  • Try this: Double-check a contract, repair a genuine safety issue, build a buffer in your schedule and review upcoming expenses.
  • Keep in mind: Optional drilling or digging, intense lighting displays, impulsive spending or treating this reading as a reason to fear a room.
Back to the chart

West

Rest & diplomacy · 247.5°–292.5°

Annual 3Monthly 2

Annual 3 and monthly 2 combine the traditional themes of disagreement and depleted energy. Wood 3 controls Earth 2 in the Five Element cycle, so simplistic advice to add large amounts of one element can work against another consideration. This is a sector for a softer atmosphere, reasonable expectations and practical attention to comfort.

If your bedroom is in the West, protect sleep, reduce noise and keep the route around the bed clear. In a shared room, agree on quiet hours and clean up the irritations that repeat every day. A restrained Metal expression is one traditional approach to monthly 2, but calm use matters more than accumulating cures.

  • Try this: Delegate an unnecessary task, speak calmly, resolve one recurring household annoyance and keep a realistic rest routine.
  • Keep in mind: Late-night arguments, excessive Fire used as a quick cure for annual 3 or interpreting star 2 as a medical diagnosis.
Back to the chart

East

Safeguard what matters · 67.5°–112.5°

Annual 8Monthly 7

Annual 8 supplies a traditional resource-building theme, while monthly 7 asks for care around trust, privacy and financial leakage. Earth 8 feeds Metal 7 in the elemental cycle, so the annual wealth association should not be read as a reason to overlook October’s caution. The emphasis is on looking after what is already working.

Check a frequently used Eastern door, secure important documents and review recurring charges. A quiet blue or dark textile can represent the Water traditionally used to soften Metal 7, without introducing moving water. Keep everyday security habits in place whether or not the room matches a favorable star.

  • Try this: Confirm payment details independently, back up important files and make shared responsibilities or ownership explicit.
  • Keep in mind: Sharing passwords, responding to a pressured offer, leaving valuables on display or trusting a deal because it sounds fortunate.

The annual considerations still apply

A monthly star adds a layer; it does not replace the annual one. Traditional annual precautions for 2026 continue throughout October. If you already use an annual symbolic remedy, keep its annual placement rather than moving it to chase the monthly chart.

South · annual 5
Keep optional disruption low, even with monthly 4 present. The annual Five Yellow is why the South is treated cautiously throughout this report.
Northwest · annual 2
The initiative associated with monthly 1 is balanced by the annual rest-and-care theme. A productive room should also be a comfortable one.
South 2 · Tai Sui
In the Fire Horse year, Tai Sui is assigned to the Horse bearing, approximately 172.5°–187.5°. Traditional practice avoids unnecessary disturbance here. Tai Sui uses a narrower compass band than the full South sector.
North 2 · Sui Po
The annual opposing bearing is approximately 352.5°–7.5°. The wider Northern area is also the conventional 2026 Three Killings direction. Together with October’s monthly 5, these reinforce the advice to keep optional digging and drilling low.

Quiet does not mean abandoning a room or leaving a hazard unfixed. Keep the entrance usable, attend to genuine maintenance and let qualified professionals handle work that is necessary. A general annual/monthly chart alone cannot select a safe renovation date for a particular building.

Bring the reading into everyday life

Career, business and learning

The Center’s 1/9 pairing supports the traditional theme of bringing work into view. Make that concrete: complete a concise proposal, put your best examples in order and follow up with someone who already understands your work. In the Southeast, use the steadier 9/8 theme to refine a process or service rather than repeatedly changing direction.

The Southwest’s monthly 6 suggests asking an experienced person for guidance, but annual 7 makes clarity valuable: confirm the scope, cost and next step. In the Northeast, keep group work structured and decisions recorded. If a quiet, comfortable study space is already available elsewhere, you do not need to move into the South to seek monthly 4.

Money and long-term resources

Use October’s growth symbolism for habits you can check: review recurring charges, reconcile your budget, follow up an invoice and keep a reserve for known expenses. A Southeast planning session can be a ritual that helps you focus, while the East and North reminders encourage verification and restraint.

Separate a supportive reading from an investment decision. Assess affordability, evidence and contractual terms independently. A chart cannot establish the value of a purchase, the safety of an investment or whether a windfall will occur.

Relationships and family

Monthly 3 in the Northeast and the 3/2 combination in the West put communication and rest at the center of the practical advice. Name the issue, describe the help you need and leave space for the other person’s answer. Avoid important conversations when either of you is exhausted.

Use monthly 4’s relationship symbolism in a simple way: a thoughtful message, a comfortable place to sit together or time without phones. The South’s annual 5 means there is no need for a loud or elaborate romantic activation. Connection grows through the way a space is used, not through the number of objects displayed.

Well-being and a comfortable home

Star 2 is traditionally described through health-related caution, while 5 suggests avoiding strain. Translate those themes into ordinary support: a workable sleep routine, fewer competing tasks, clear walkways, ventilation and comfortable light. If a Northern or Western room is your bedroom, improve its comfort rather than assuming you must stop using it.

Seasonal symbolism can be a reminder to slow down and notice your surroundings. It is not a way to diagnose symptoms or choose treatment. Base health decisions on your actual needs and appropriate clinical guidance.

Colors, materials and a lighter touch

In traditional Five Element practice, colors and materials express relationships between stars. They are symbolic choices rather than required purchases. Use one modest change where it helps the room feel settled, and keep the whole annual/monthly combination in mind.

Metal
White, silver, soft gold and stable metal objects. Traditionally used to drain the Earth of 2 and 5: relevant to the North, West, South and annual Northwest. Keep additions quiet and avoid sharp or unstable objects.
Water
Blue, deep dark tones and Water imagery. Often used symbolically to soften Metal 7 in the East or Southwest. A textile or image is simpler than installing an aquarium or fountain; moving water needs a more complete assessment.
Fire
A restrained warm accent can symbolize Fire’s relationship with the Wood of 3 in the Northeast. Do not apply that rule blindly to the West: Fire also feeds the Earth of monthly 2. Avoid strengthening Fire in the South or North where 5 is a concern.
Wood & Earth
A healthy existing plant, natural texture or orderly collection can support a comfortable room. October does not require you to add plants, crystals or heavy objects to every favorable palace. Too much decoration can make a useful space harder to use.

A gourd, coins or other traditional object may have personal meaning, but no special item is necessary to follow the practical advice in this report. Cleanliness, comfortable use and a consistent routine are the first changes to make.

A reflection for each zodiac sign

One popular monthly method associates each zodiac sign with a compass sector. The notes below follow that mapping and its October star pair. They offer a broad reflection, not a personalized forecast; two people with the same animal sign can have very different Four Pillars and living spaces.

Pairs are shown as annual / monthly. If you were born in January or early February, confirm your sign using the year-boundary convention of the system you follow instead of assuming the Gregorian year gives the correct animal.

RatNorth · 6 / 5
Choose maintenance over unnecessary expansion. Check a payment, leave time between commitments and finish an outstanding obligation. In the traditional year-branch relationship, Rat also opposes Horse; treat that as a prompt for patience rather than a prediction of trouble.
OxNortheast · 4 / 3
Make communication precise. Agree on what a task includes, keep messages factual and avoid arguing simply to establish who is right. A quiet individual study session may be more useful than a distracted group discussion.
TigerNortheast · 4 / 3
Direct your energy into preparation and a clear deliverable. Ask for expectations in writing and pause before responding to criticism. The Horse-year harmony traditionally associated with Tiger does not remove this month’s communication theme.
RabbitEast · 8 / 7
Protect your attention, privacy and resources. Verify requests, make a copy of important work and avoid vague shared financial arrangements. Clear boundaries are a more useful response than assuming another person has bad intentions.
DragonSoutheast · 9 / 8
Build on a sound foundation. Refine a proven idea, review a savings habit or prepare a carefully researched proposal. The Dog month is traditionally the opposite branch to Dragon, so allow flexibility even within a supportive sector reading.
SnakeSoutheast · 9 / 8
Favor steady improvement over constant novelty. Give an established project better structure and review whether your commitments leave room for rest. A supportive chart is an invitation to prepare well, not evidence that every opportunity will work.
HorseSouth · 5 / 4
Keep creative work and relationships gentle. Enjoy reading, thoughtful messages and a consistent routine without noisy activation in the South. In a Horse year, Tai Sui is an annual consideration; the softer monthly 4 does not cancel it.
Goat / SheepSouthwest · 7 / 6
Ask for useful help and make the terms clear. A mentor, experienced colleague or qualified adviser can offer perspective. Keep the annual 7 caution in mind by checking agreements and avoiding financial decisions based only on goodwill.
MonkeySouthwest · 7 / 6
Reconnect with someone whose judgment you trust. Turn advice into a small, testable next step, and verify details before making a commitment. Support is valuable when it improves your decisions and leaves your independence intact.
RoosterWest · 3 / 2
Protect rest and lower the temperature of disagreements. Make your workload manageable and address a recurring practical irritation before it becomes personal. Leave ambitious plans room to develop at a sustainable pace.
DogNorthwest · 2 / 1
Use the month’s initiative theme to make one well-prepared request or restart a manageable plan. This is also the Dog solar month, a seasonal emphasis rather than a universal lucky designation. Remember the annual 2 theme and avoid overcommitting.
Pig / BoarNorthwest · 2 / 1
Prepare an application, share your work or reach out to a helpful contact. Balance a renewed sense of momentum with ordinary care for your time and energy. A few clear commitments can accomplish more than a crowded calendar.

A practical plan for the month

Move through the month with a simple rhythm: clear what is unfinished, settle your surroundings, make a measured move and leave room to restore your energy.

Opening days
Clear and complete. Before Cold Dew, use the previous month’s chart. Finish an existing task, identify the sectors of your entrance and bedroom, and keep annual placements where they belong.
After Cold Dew
Settle the new pattern. Check the North and West for unnecessary noise and clutter. Review security in the East. Choose a comfortable Center or Southeast area for one focused planning session.
Midmonth
Make a measured move. Present completed work, arrange a useful conversation or refine an established project. Verify agreements and resist adding commitments faster than you can support them.
Late month
Consolidate and restore. At Frost’s Descent, keep the same monthly chart. Review what worked, close a small financial or household loose end and protect your downtime. Prepare to review placements again when the next solar month begins.

Your October checklist

  • Confirm north and mark the sectors you actually use.
  • Keep the Center open and choose one project to complete.
  • Use the Southeast for thoughtful planning if the space is already suitable.
  • Reduce optional disruption in the North and South.
  • Protect sleep and use calm communication in the West and Northeast.
  • Check payment details, locks and privacy habits in the East and Southwest.
  • Keep annual considerations in place when adjusting monthly symbolism.
  • Review the next month’s chart at Winter Commences.

Let October be a month of useful attention: a clearer surface, a finished piece of work, a careful conversation and enough room to rest.
