About Zen & Tao

Our philosophy draws on Taoism, Buddhism and Zen. We value awareness, simplicity and harmony with nature, choosing materials and objects that bring stillness and a sense of balance to everyday life.

Zen & Tao began with a search for objects that make us pause: a tea cup held in both hands, incense that changes a room, a handmade piece with its own texture and character. From these small moments, our story continues to grow through material, craft and daily use.

Explore Our Story

The story of Zen & Tao begins with a simple wish: to make a little room for stillness in the rush of everyday life. Inspired by the awareness of Buddhism, Taoism’s harmony with nature and the focus of Zen, we are slowly learning how to relate to ourselves and the world around us.

The Five Elements invite us to notice nature’s rhythms and changes, while Feng Shui encourages us to reconsider our relationship with the spaces we call home. These reflections gradually shape the objects we choose: a piece of jewellery, a cup of tea, a wisp of incense.

Early this year, we travelled to Shangri-La and Shenpu, the Sacred Waterfall. Beside Wudi Lake, we watched clouds move across the water. On mountain paths and amid the sound of the waterfall, we slowly let go of everyday haste. The wind beneath a Taoist temple’s eaves, a trace of incense in a mountain monastery and a warm cup of tea made Buddhism’s awareness, Taoism’s harmony with nature and Zen’s focus feel tangible.

The journey also deepened our understanding of Feng Shui and energy. The shelter of mountains, the movement of water, and the direction of light and wind together shape the atmosphere of a place. Back in daily life, we began noticing the relationship between our rooms and the objects within them, hoping to bring the steadiness we found on the journey home.

In traditional Feng Shui, the Five Elements provide a foundation for understanding the relationship between space and energy. Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth each have distinct qualities and interact through cycles of generation and control, supporting and balancing one another. Feng Shui uses this framework to connect direction, material, color and form, considering how the different elements of a space can coexist in harmony.

This connection also shapes how we understand and choose objects. The elemental qualities of a material, the interplay of color and form, and the relationship between an object and its surroundings all become details we consider. We hope to bring the sense of balance found in the Five Elements and Feng Shui into daily life, helping each object find its place in the spaces we live in.

Find Your Five Elements

The stillness we experienced on our travels gradually became a guide for choosing products at Zen & Tao. We carry these reflections into jewellery for daily wear, tea ware that makes time for a cup of tea, incense for moments of rest, and decorative pieces that become part of your home. We hope these products offer a chance to pause and reconnect with yourself within the familiar rhythms of everyday life.

When choosing each product, we consider its material, color, form and feel in use, as well as its relationship with the Five Elements and Feng Shui. From jewellery worn close to the body to objects placed around the home, we want our products to reflect your personal style and fit naturally into your life, bringing the awareness, simplicity and harmony we value into everyday experiences you can wear, use and live with.

Stillness is not far away. It may be found in a cup of tea, a familiar object held in the hand, or a room that feels settled at the end of the day. When a chosen piece becomes part of your own rhythms and rituals, the story continues with you.
